Blog content for Glyphics
London signage designers Glyphics wanted to launch a blog to report on anything and everything to do with great graphics, lettering and typeface design. I help them source ideas for new topics and research and write them, working on a retainer basis. I also write their website content plus articles for customer newsletters and marketing campaigns.

Smithfields’ new design landmark: a homage to Alan Fletcher’s alphabet gates?
Visitors to the hidden courtyard HQ of design agency The Partners are being welcomed by an eye-provoking new art form.
The iron bar gates at the entrance to their Smithfield enclave have just been transformed by Glyphics to carry The Partners’ brand. And the optical trickery involved is inspiring lots of head-scratching and “How have they done that...?” moments for passers-by.

Brochure for BT Retail
This is a short and simple guide to computers and the internet written for the ‘digitally excluded’: parents of school-age children and older people who don’t yet own or use a computer or broadband. I joined London design agency GMT Design and BT Retail in this pioneering educational project long before the Government created its Digital Inclusion Task Force. Here’s a brief extract:

As with anything new, perhaps the idea of sitting down at a computer screen for the first time is a bit scary. But it’s not really much different from getting to know other appliances you use around the home such as a new TV or mobile phone. Nowadays they all have mini computers inside them. So if you can use them, you’ll have no problem with a computer on a slightly bigger scale.

Naming project for Kyson: Cadogan Corner
London architects Kyson needed a building name for a group of three new town-houses they’ve designed overlooking Victoria Park, London E8. The project involved a fascinating delve into the history of the street and the local area: another one of my passions!
